It seems the cold, dead hands old man winter have finally let go of the Midwest and the earth is coming back to life, which could only mean only one thing, Festival Season has arrived. And with the reigning champ this side of the Mississippi looking strong as ever, you need not look any further than the 14^th annual All Good Music Festival and Campout in the West Virginia backs country for all your summer music needs.

High atop Marvin’s Mountaintop in Mason, West Virginia the All Good Festival provides four days and nights of constant music and staggering views of the Appalachian landscape on 655 acres.

Headlining this year’s festival are Grateful Dead icons, Phil Lesh and Bob Weir playing as Furthur. Other headliners include festival favorites, Wide Spread Panic, Umphrey’s McGee and Yonder Mountain String Band.

With 2 stages, fans are assured never to have pick or split their time between multiple shows on different stages at the same time. Being so, All Good promises a near perfect line-up. No fillers or other unwanted lame ducks in this schedule. Simply 4 days and nights of, as All Good would say, “music, camping, and loving.”

Other notable performers include the ever-evolving live spectacle of Bassnectar, the fusion electronic jams of Lotus, radio favorite Old Crow Medicine Show and the endless smooth songs of Perpetual Groove.

Also performing is George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelics, Keller Williams and The Added Bonus, Grace Potter and The Nocturnal, The Tea Leaf Green, Railroad Earth, Rebelution, The New Deal, The Pimps of Joy Time and The MacPodz along with many other performances yet to be announced.

With all of the early bird tickets already sold, the price of general 4-day pass stands at 179$. Also a 3-day pass, for those suck in the 9-5, is available for 159$.

In such a sad and sorry state is the modern man. Confused, callow, and simply sapped, a whole generation of men has been misguided; all the while women suffer.

Lacking the balance between heart and spine, strength and compassion, has led to the wallows of many men. Becoming beaten by the challenges of life, or vowing against all that might do so, makes our existence feeble and disconnected.

Giving neither resistance to, nor weakness to the trials and demands of women and life, men must again begin to live full-hearted in consequence and acceptance of these test. It is the openness to these struggles, and the security found in conquering them, that defines a man.

These conditions of man have left women the ones to suffer. The compassion, lust, and strength that balances man with women is lost. Either to weak to support his women, or to disheartened to heal her woos, man must regain his strength and compassion to balance his life.

Global Warming On Mars

Most people have come to believe Earth’s melting ice caps and rising temperatures are caused by humanities disregard to the climate and the natural balance of the Earth. But over a decade of planetary studies suggest that this might be more myth than fact, as Earth is not the only planet feeling the heat.

While CNN and Fox news are busy backing Al Gore in his campaign against SUV’s and carbon emissions, it turns out all this media hype may not hold up so strong against the obvious facts. For the past three summers, ice caps on both Mars and Earth have simultaneously been shrinking. This suggesting that the major cause for global warming is not from the increasing size of human’s carbon footprint.

Instead, scientists are finding out that the “problem” might be much more natural than the major media would have you believe.

Scientists have long known that Earth cycles through periods of warmth to times of cold and back to warmth, creating a consistent flux and shift in balance. It seems now we are living in a time of drastic warming: And as the planets shift and change, so does the sun. As scientist are finding, the sun also undergoes periodic shifts in the amount of radiation and heat it emits. It is these “solar cycles” that account for a large majority of all the climate change here on Earth and Mars.

“The long-term increase in solar irradiance is heating both Earth and Mars,” says Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of the St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia.

“Man-made greenhouse warming has made a small contribution to the warming seen on Earth in recent years, but it can compete with the increase in solar radiation.”

Although Abdussamatov’s research remains highly at odds with mainstream opinion, and we should not take lightly the increasing release of carbon emissions in the climate, it is vital we keep striving to better understand and question the true affects of our actions. Without fully understanding the reasons for the melting ice caps and the increase of atmospheric temperatures on Mars and Earth, we will never be able to successfully and accurately direct our conversation and restoration efforts toward the environment.

It’s your first impression, with the right drink you might get a second. Ordering the right drink for the right girl is not always the easiest task. Though the drink is can be a guarantee, the perfect girl isn’t. The drinks you order for any girl say a lot about who you are, the girl you want and your intentions. You should know what you’re really buying.

Bottled Light Beer- while she’s sure to accept it, this choice also shows your inability to take any risk. It may be a safe choice but it is also completely forgettable. Before the bar, you go you get drunk at your “buddy’s” house on a case of natty light. You deal with the taste of shitty beer just because you think getting drunk will help your game [even though experience has proved the opposite]. Yet, 24 cans of light beer run right through you, leaving you with a notorious record for pissing all over yourself, the couch, sink, and lady you brought home 2 weeks ago. Although you think you need the beer, it is actually your biggest downfall. If you’re looking for anything more that a few minutes of cheap talk or a lucky one night stand, best to you buy a better drink.

Draft Full Beer- be sure, this drink will not win over all girls. It says a lot about who you are and the girl you’re trying to find. You enjoy the more casual approach to drinking, appreciate the taste of a good beer and so should your girl. Forget counting calories, you need a girl who can hang with the guys, watch some football and shut down your friends when they try to act hard. She laughs at guys wearing pink and hates it when you call her “baby”. Though she’ll probably make fun of you; don’t be discouraged, it’s merely a test. 10-15mg. A good pick-up. The slight buzz helps you forget about your hangover and think clearly after getting high. A confused feeling of laziness with burst of energy leaves most of your projects halfway done. Though it prevented you from watching a 5-hour marathon of the Housewives of OC, you only scratched the surface of a productive day.

30mg. You make a to do list and actually get it done. Your newfound assertiveness has your friends scrutinizing you, but fuck them your on a well need roll. Food has lost all appeal; fortunately eating only seems like a waste of time anyways. Your only craving is vitamin water and supplement pills. You’ve sent out 17 emails, ordered a pair of new kicks online, washed your clothes and folded them too; it’s a good day.

45mg. You’re a machine. Your body runs on the waves of time-release capsules. Urges to drink occur frequently and you gain the ability to consume mass amounts of booze. Thoughts become to quick for your mouth and chances of a coherent conversation become almost impossible. To everyone other than yourself, you look like a sweaty crack head that desperately needs a place to sleep, but fuck that, sleep is for the weak. You are more than human and your performance shows it.

60mg. It’s 6:56 in the morning; your still at the library; the food and sleep deprivation has got you on the edge of sanity and possibly hallucinating. Convulsions strike without warning and your body shakes with the symptoms of a seizure. Everything has become a count down. Your 10-page paper is no longer due at 8:30, it’s due in 1 hour 37 minutes and 46 seconds. Any productive thought you might have is quickly pushed aside by your severe OCD. Everything around you has been cleaned, organized, reorganized, and cleaned again. Sadly, the feng shui of your office does nothing to offset the complete disarrangement of your thoughts. Compulsions have become your only source of action. Who knows why you cleaned the inside of the toaster but at the time it would seem ridiculous not to. You got a lot done; unfortunately it wasn’t any of things you were supposed to do.

Rothbury Festival

After its premier last summer, the Rothbury festival has gained impressive reputation for being one of America’s best gatherings of music, art, and community. And Rothbury 2009 will be no exception.

Located in the serene landscape of the Sherwood Forest in Rothbury, Michigan, the festival creates an strong connection between people, nature, and self-expression rarely found or even attempted in the music festivals of today, making Rothbury one of a kind.

Not only will they be the host of this summer’s ONLY Grateful Dead performance, along with headlining shows from Bob Dylan and his band but they are also the host of many lesser known, yet equally as a worthy musicians such as Yonder Mountain String Band, Gov’t Mule, G. Love and Special Sauce, Les Claypool, and John Butler just to name a few. Rothbury is also focused on creating a community and social movement, meaning, YOU, the people are the heart of Rothbury. So You Think You Is Hood?

These days everyone seems to act they’re from the hood. They talk about they’re 5 bedroom, 3 car garage with a finished basemen mansion in the suburbs of Indianapolis, like they grew up in the projects on the south side of Chicago. Instead of telling people how their parents bought them a new BMW on 16^th birthday, they make it sound like a come up story of hustling the block. Though they maintain this hood front at all times, it is still easy to see how soft they really are. But if you think your hood, the following are no news to you.

Jewelry – everything else in your life might suck, but you still look ballin. People may think you make terrible decision with your money, but really you just stole all this shit anyways.

Baby Momma – you’re convinced that baby ain’t even yours but paternity test are too expensive and she refuses to go on Maury, so you give her your hard earned money anyways. Though you commit countless crimes on a daily basis, you’ve spent more time in jail for skipping child support than anything else.

Corner – everyone knows where to find you. The corner is your territory, the throne of the neighborhood. Others may try to step on your block but your quick to “dismiss” any confusion about whose corner it is. Even the cops know where to watch where they step.

Blunts Only – though there are hundreds of ways to smoke weed, you’ve only got one. Blunts. Your skills are so time tested and well perfected. You can lick it, split it, and twist it before most people can even break up their weed.

The Restaurant - you’ve got a friend who owns the little carryout up the street. You don’t work there, but you hang out in the kitchen anyways. Your favorite meal is the house special with grape pop.

Brown Paper Bag – your primary source of income. While must people work all week for their minimum wage paycheck, yours comes to you, in a brown paper bag, full of cash.

Your Gun – one of your closest and most trustworthy friends. It’s unregistered and has a broken safety switch on it.

Rims & system – you often skip your child support to get new rims and audio system. And to make sure the money was well spent, you take countless, aimless drives around the neighborhood, bumping your new audio system so everyone will come outside and look at your rims.

Mutt - you don’t actually have a dog, but there is a stray one that never leaves your yard.

You’ve never feed it but somehow its looks in healthier than you.

Top 10 Southern Trademarks

1. Confederate Flag- stop calling northern people Yankees. The war is over! You may say you’re a rebel but everyone just thinks you’re racist.

2. Country Music- every song is about having sex with your girl, your dog running away, and your truck dieing. Or maybe it’s that your dog died, your girl ran away, and your having sex with your truck, either way the music blows.

3. Y’all- an insult to the English language. A slur of, ” you all”, Y’all is so simple to assure no amount of alcohol can impair your speech any further that it already is.

4. Carhartt- the tuxedo of the south, still it is only a slight step up from an all denim get-up. Almost like a member’s only jacket for rednecks.

5. Pickup Trucks- turbo fuel injection, dual exhaust, hemi engine, 4 rear tires and over sized mud flaps. Guns and ladders hang out of the back; you can smell the moonshine and road kill even when you drive in front of them. Clearly, the towing ability of your truck is the only test of manhood in some rural regions.

6. Moonshine- often distilled from potato plants grown in huge stacked tire pillars, moonshine is cheap, taste awful, and apparently makes you drunk enough to have sex with your cousin.

7. Overalls At Inappropriate Places- no one wants to see your grimy ass overalls while out to dinner. As if the horse shit on your pants wasn’t enough, you never bothered to wash out the piss stain from getting drunk last night.

8. Gun & Liquor Store- found in only the most remote southern rural areas, these “stores” are usually run out of a trailer home or the back of a pickup trucks. Only in the south can you get a 1/5 of whiskey and some rounds for your shotgun at the same place. Its a one stop shop for all your favorite activities.

9. Porch’n- whether in the city or in the country, everyone in the south loves sitting on the porch. The only difference is what kind of gun they’re clean.

10. Walmart- Southernshave accepted Wal-Mart as their cultural icon. Quaint town centers have been replaced by super centers. And instead of the coalmines, everyone is the town now works for minimum wage, pushcarts around the parking lot with they’re baby in the front.

Bars aren’t the right place to find a good girl, but who cares that’s not what you’re looking for anyways. You went to the bar to find a girl that’s ready to get down, and with a little know-how that’s what you’ll find. It’s not about the game you play or the money you spend, it’s about the girls you talk too. Keep an eye out for these easy women.

Dirty Dancer

If she dances like a hoe she’s a hoe. This girl knows how to get down. She shakes her ass, drops it low, and could probably break your dick off. Most nights she comes to the club already drunk and heads straight to the dance floor. She not a big talker and doesn’t expect a nice drink, hell she doesn’t even care for a pick-line. Make your moves quick and confident; she wants someone who knows what they’re doing. Through-out the night, play her like a game of nine ball, you don’t have to be to spend the whole night with her, but as long as you’re the last to knock the ball in and dance with her, you win. And to no surprise, she fucks just as well as she dances. She’s likely to break your bed frame and scream like a banshee, so for all practical purposes, it’s best to just throw a blanket on the floor, she’ll understand. Most of the time it will be hard to tell exactly what is going on or weather your even enjoying it, so hold on. By the morning, she’ll have likely ripped your shirt, thrown condoms about your room, and paralyzed your dick from all function and feeling. And though your hips are bruised and it’s hard to walk, you somehow feel satisfied by it all.

Sorority Girl

Beware; these girls can be vicious. They move like a pack of wolves and can smell weakness. They gain strength with numbers and have a very structured hierarchy system. The alpha sister can often be identified by her position within the pack; most often she is the center of attention or the one being followed. Do not underestimate the power of the pack leader, for she controls your destiny with any of the girls in her domain. She has the power the exile, scrutinize and slander any of her followers. If you can make good with the pack leader, your chance of success within the pack is increased ten fold. WARNING: NEVER spit game at more than one of the pack members in a single night. They will quickly identify your intentions, conspire against you, and surround you before you can even make a break for the door. These girls are hardly worth the trouble. If you do manage to get lucky, it will most likely somehow comeback to haunt you. Remember: Most will cheat on their boyfriend, but all are loyal to their pack!

The Blackout

She often gets blacked out on diluted vodka before even arriving at the bar and is probably rocking a drink stain somewhere on her dress. She doesn’t need anymore, but will demand that you buy her the most expensive drink before even getting her name. She thinks she’ll the shit and somehow fails to see the shit show she really is. Before the end of the night she’ll break a heel and cry on the sidewalk. If you manage to get her drunk ass back to your house, take precautions. Remove all sheets, valuable things, and alcohol from her general location. Though you may get lucky before she passes out in the bathroom, it will most likely be the worst sex of your life. By the morning she will have pissed on herself, pucked in her hair, and put her panties on backwards. Do not give this girl your number, this embarrassing night of drunken mishaps was not her first and will not be her last. Get her out of your house early in the morning so she is less likely to remember you. If all goes as planned, you have learn a valuable lesson and will avoid girls of this type at all cost.

Weekday Women
Her favorite days are Monday. Tuesday. Wednesday. This is a veteran women; she’s been around the block and means business. She usually packs tomorrows work cloths in her purse so she does have to bother going home in the morning. She rarely has more than a drink or two, and is eager to leave the bar as soon as she finds a guy. She doesn’t ask much from you, so don’t ask much from her. Being strangers is completely fine with her; she may even prefer it. She knows what she is doing and is a great lay. Be sure not to talk during sex; your voice is merely an annoying distraction to her. Right after sex, she is quick to get dressed and leave, as you hold your breath hoping she doesn’t expect you to pay.
